Shana Green, a former NCAA Division II All-American, will begin her first year as director of women's basketball operations, joining the staff from the Pitt ticket office. Green served as assistant ticket manager from August 2003 until her hiring for the upcoming season. As the director of women's basketball operations, Green will coordinate and oversee all travel for the women's basketball team and serve as the program's liaison to numerous campus offices and within the athletic department. In addition, she will lead the marketing, managing and promotions efforts for head coach Agnus Berenato's basketball camps, as well as special events and programs within the community. During her high school career, Green was a decorated local basketball standout at Avonworth High School. During her senior year of high school, she was a first-team All-WPIAL selection by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and Beaver County Times. Green also earned section MVP honors and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Eat `n Park Roundball Classic. She continued her basketball career at West Virginia Wesleyan and was named an NCAA Division II All-American in 2001. The summer before her senior year at West Virginia Wesleyan, Green represented the United States on an All-Star team that played in Belgium, France, Holland and Luxembourg. "I'm very excited to get back into women's basketball and work with the fine coaching staff we have here at Pitt," Green said. "The team has made significant steps forward in the past two years under Coach Berenato and I'm proud to have an opportunity to continue that progress." A native of Sewickley, Pa., Green's position with the Pitt ticket office included handling all financial responsibilities, revenue and managed ticket sales for many of the Panthers' varsity sports teams, including women's basketball. She also assisted in pre-planning and gameday ticket operations for football and men's basketball. |
