A hard-nosed player that gives it all on the court both in games and in practice...will look to take more of a leadership role as the veteren of the Panther team this season.

Sophronia Sallard appeared in all 33 games, starting 19 during her junior season with the Panthers...started the final 19 games of the season...scored 14 points in a victory over instate rival Penn State...scored 12 points and was a perfect five-for-five from the field against Youngstown State...recorded a season-high eight rebounds against Wagner...scored 11 points and added five rebounds at Florida A&M...scored a career-high 20 points in Pitt's overtime win at Rutgers...scored 13 points and added five assists at Louisville...scored 10 points on a perfect five-for-five from the field in a victory over St. John's...tied a season-high with three steals in the win over Gonzaga during the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Sophronia Sallard played in 32 games during the season, while starting eight...named ESPN.com's Player of the Day for her efforts against Wyoming in the NCAA Tournament...posted a career game with 15 points against Wyoming, including 13 in the first half...started in the overtime win over #13 WVU grabbing eight rebounds and scoring six points...earned her first start at Pitt and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in the win over Seton Hall...played substantial minutes in the win at Villanova contributing on defense...had valuable minutes at St. John's, helping Pitt to the win with two points, two rebounds and two blocks...played 19 minutes at Wagner adding eight points and a career-high six steals...had a career night against Cal Poly with 10 points in 20 minutes of play...grabbed a career-high four rebounds in win over Mount St. Mary's...sat out most of the preseason with minor injuries...gained more and more minutes as the season progressed.

Due to transfer eligibility rules, Sallard sat out the 2006-07 season.

As a freshman with the Jayhawks, she played in 15 games with one start...averaged 1.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in limited action...recorded a six-rebound game versus New Orleans and posted a solid performance at nationally ranked Oklahoma with three points, four rebounds and two assists.

A star out of Nottingham High School, Sallard was listed by Blue Star as the 25th-ranked player in the nation...earned first-team all-league honors, named CNY Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005, the Metro Player of the Year, and a fifth-team Street & Smith's All-American as a junior...ranked the 15th-best wing player and 88th-best player in the country by Mike White's adidas Top 10 All-Star Girls Report.

Sophronia Sallard was born on April 30, 1987...is the daughter of the late Deborah Sallard and Greg Jones...has four brothers, Damon, Daquan, Kareem and Jarvis and two sisters, Shameera and Simia...an administration of justice major.
