Dramatically improved throughout her freshman campaign, will look to do the same this coming season...will take on more of a workload following an All-Big East Freshman selection...finalist for the USA Basketball U19 squad prior to knee injury...projected starter at center for Pitt.
Pepper Wilson made 32 starts and played in 33 games during her freshman season with the Panthers...scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds in her first collegiate game against Texas A&M...racked up three double-doubles on the season; against South Florida (12 points, 10 rebounds), against Marquette (13 points, 17 rebounds) and against St. John's (12 points and 11 rebounds)...scored a season-high 16 points against Louisville in the semifinals of the Big East Championship...tied a season-high with four blocked shots in the Gonzaga win during the second round of the NCAA Tournament...earned all-tournament team honors after scoring 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting and grabbing 11 rebounds in the Pitt Thanksgiving Tournament...second on the team in rebounding at 6.4 boards per game...named to the Big East All-Freshman team.
Shawnice "Pepper" Wilson was named the City League Player of the Year as a junior and senior while at Westinghouse...four-time All-City League...2005 Freshman of the Year...District and Player of the Year in as a junior and senior...second team All-State in 2007-08...Post-Gazette Fab Five City League team...invited to the prestigious adidas Top Ten All-America Camp...Was ranked 23 out of the top 50 seniors in the 2008 High School Slam Magazine...scored 1,540 points in her career...National Honor Society member and graduated first in her class.
Daughter of Carl Wilson and Marcella Holmes...born August 8, 1990...has seven siblings -- Andrea (26), Carletta (20), Carla (19), Carl (18), Carl (16), Keisan (1) and Aliyah (1)...uncle Michael Wilson played basketball in Argentina professionally...plans to major in child psychology.
