DePaul 81, Pitt 73
Quoting Head Coach Berenato
"Tough game; DePaul is a good team. They're an NCAA-bound team and they came in today a little bit different than when we played them the first time in that they had their whole team. They got Anna Martin back who is one of the top scorers in the league, as well as in the country. They also had Rogowski who had previously had a broken hand. It was just a tough game. We got out rebounded by eight, but I thought we did a really good job of taking care of the ball. We only had nine turnovers, which I thought was an exceptional job. We shot a little bit better today, but I wish we would have shot better from the free throw line. You can't miss those free throws. I thought Bri [Kiesel] really attacked today. At one point I thought she was being passive and she was trying to be unselfish like she always is and pass the ball to everyone else so they could get a basket, but I said, `Bri, you need to score.' She had 28 points and her stat line is terrific. Asia [Logan] had a double-double and she hit the boards today. She played almost the entire game. I also want to congratulate Abby [Dowd]. She's a junior that's graduating with two degrees and a certificate. She's a brilliant, brilliant kid and a great kid, too. She was a starter for us the entire year last year, but she suffers from horrific ankles, which is why you haven't seen her play much this year. It's been a tough, tough break for her and we really missed her shooting and her communication on the court."
Kiesel: on confidence coming into the game since a few months ago:
"We thought it was going to be a close game, we knew we just needed to do things like box out and step up the transitions, we kind of got lost in our transition points. It was part of our game plan, which we did not do that unfortunately, I think we played well, we shot the ball well, we passed the ball well, we secured the ball, and we just came up a little short. "
Logan: thoughts on being able to put up significant points and the opposing team answering in the next passion:
"It is quite frustrating, but boxing out, the little things we need to get, we have to keep working."
