Pitt dropped its second-straight season opener with a 64-50 loss to Youngstown State on Friday. Pitt moved to 27-12 all-time record for season openers.
PETERSEN EVENTS CENTER RECORD
Youngstown State recorded 12 three-pointers, tying a Petersen Events Center record for three-point field goals made by an opponent. The Penguins tied the mark set by Duquesne on Dec. 3, 2003.
Sophomore forward Cora McManus scored a career-high 16 points, topping previous high of nine at Duke last season (12/4/11). She also recorded a career-best eight field goals. Junior guard Asia Logan had a career-high seven rebounds; her previous career high for rebounds was six versus Mount St. Mary’s on Dec. 6, 2010.
Redshirt freshman guard Loliya Briggs played in her first collegiate game. Briggs missed the 2011-12 season after injuring her knee as a Nigerian National team member. During her first 22 minutes as a Panther, Briggs scored four points and had three rebounds.
