*Sophomore Marquel Davis posted her first 20-plus point performance (26 points today), topping her previous career high of 17 reached in the last game out versus Loyola. The second year player is shooting 20-of-31 (.645) in the past two games.
*Davis also set career highs in both field goals made (11) and field goals attempted (19). The 11 field goals are the most for a Pitt player since Taneisha Harrison had 12 made field goals at West Virginia last season (Feb. 5, 2011).
*Freshman Brianna Kiesel had 24 points in the win over Central Michigan. The last Pitt freshman to net more than 20 points in a single game in their first season was Taneisha Harrison during the 2007-08 season. The recently graduated guard had 23 points at Wagner (12/30/07. The last time a Pitt freshman had 24 points or more in their first season in a Pitt uniform was Marcedes Walker. The four-time All-Big East honoree scored 30 points against Robert Morris in her fourth career collegiate game on Dec. 1, 2004.
*Kiesel went 15-of-17 from the free throw line. The 15 makes are a Petersen Event Center record, topping the previous high of 12 reached on two occasions in the 2002-03 season. The all-time record for free throws made in a season for a Pitt player is 16, reached by Laine Selwyn at Providence on Feb. 26, 2002.
*Kiesel led the team in assists with five. She has paced or co-paced the Panthers in the assist column in all four games.
*Leeza Burdgess scored in double figures for the second-straight game, accomplishing that feat for the first time in her career. The redshirt sophomore center added eight rebounds to lead the team in that category for the third time in four games. She also tied her career-best with three assists, her third-straight three assist game.
*Redshirt sophomore Abby Dowd had two 3-pointers against Central Michigan, marking her third-straight multiple 3-point game this season. She leads the team with nine 3-pointers.
*Sophomore Kyra Dunn had a team-high three blocks versus CMU – and has posted two or more rejections in every game this season (4).
*The three game win streak matches the longest of last season when the Panthers rolled out three-straight December wins (UT Arlington, Austin Peay, at Central Michigan).
*Pitt has scored 57 points off of opponent’s turnovers in the past two games.
*As a team, the Panthers had 16 assists on 27 field goals (.593). In the past two games, Pitt has 35 assists on 54 (.648) field goals – compared to 21 on 47 (.446) in the first two contests.
*The Panthers led wire-to-wire for the first time in 2011-12 and the first time since last season against Cincinnati on Feb. 1, 2011.
