Quoting Pitt Head Coach Agnus Berenato
"I want to thank my guest coaches, Vice Chancellor Ronnie Clark and Dr. John Wilds. These two gentlemen have been so supportive of us and they represent Pitt to the fullest extent. I think it is awesome that for nine years each have guest coached and I believe they are undefeated. I just want to say that I was proud of our team for coming out strong, especially after a defeat. I wasn't sure how this team would rebound, but we had a fabulous practice yesterday. I thought that Kyra Dunn made amazing strides, and in both halves she contributed things you can't find in stats that really put us ahead. I thought that Ashlee Anderson came out in the second half and played the way she is capable of playing. I'm so proud of her. She almost had a triple double and she stepped up, as well as Asia Logan. As far as Mount St. Mary, I really appreciate them because they challenged us."
On coming out strong in the beginning of both halves:
"We have talked about the first five minutes in both halves being very important. The goal is always to get the opposing coach to call the first timeout, which tonight he had to do in both halves. I thought our press in both halves was very active and aggressive and it forced a lot of turnovers, so that turned into a lot of buckets."
Quoting Ashlee Anderson, Sophomore Guard:
On starting again:
"It was nice to start again and help contribute to the team, but it's never good to see a starter have to sit out because of an injury."
On her performance and almost recording a triple-double:
"I know what I am capable of doing. I know that my teammates are going to put me in positions to do things that I am capable of. Kyra finished some of my assists and so did some other people. It's good that they are getting their points too. We're doing what we're supposed to be doing. I didn't even know that I was close to a triple-double. I just kept trying to rebound. Luckily, a lot of times I was in the position to get the rebound."
On the team's chemistry:
"Now we kind of know what our tendencies are. I know if I'm running down the court, Abby Dowd is going to be there. They always tell us to run our lanes so we know what the post lanes and the guard lanes are supposed to be. That comes from playing but it also comes from practice too."
Quoting Kyra Dunn, Sophomore Forward:
On her defense:
"It's just basketball. No matter what, we come out, we practice, and we just play. I just like to take it as a challenge and rise to every occasion."
On team's defense in general:
"We just preach defense. Coming out of halftime, our goal was to get stops and convert. I think we did really well defensively and trying to convert our steals."
