    THE GAME

Pittsburgh attempts to win its third straight Big East Conference game as it hosts three-time defending national champion Connecticut on Wednesday night. Tip off at the Petersen Events Center is slated for 7 p.m. and will be televised on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV).

The Panthers, who were a perfect 2-0 last week with wins at Seton Hall (62-59) and Georgetown (85-81), look to snap a 17-game losing streak to the Huskies. The last Panther victory over UConn was a 76-74 win on Feb. 24, 1993 at Fitzgerald Field House.

Connecticut enters the game with an unblemished 5-0 mark in the conference, most recently defeating Seton Hall, 64-47, this past Saturday.

    ALL-TIME SERIES

Pittsburgh and Connecticut meet for the 40th time on Wednesday with the Huskies leading the all-time series, 30-9. Connecticut has won 17 straight games in the series, including a 97-42 victory last year at the Hartford Civic Center. The Panthers’ last victory over the Huskies was a 76-74 triumph on Feb. 24, 1993. Pittsburgh is 4-12 all-time at home against Connecticut.
