    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.Marcedes Walker finished with a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds but it was not enough as Pittsburgh’s women’s basketball team dropped a 72-55 decision to No. 13/14 Boston College on Saturday afternoon at the Conte Forum. It marked the second straight loss for the Panthers as they fell to 11-8 overall and 3-5 in the Big East while the Eagles improved to 15-3 and 6-1.

     

    Boston College jumped out to a 16-2 lead after it scored 14 straight points during a five-minute span to start the game. After Pittsburgh cut the lead to nine points on a three-pointer by Katie Histed at the 11:01 mark, the Eagles built the advantage to 19 points and went into the locker room with a 34-22 lead.

     

    The Panthers committed 18 first-half turnovers and shot just 30 percent, while Boston College connected on 44 percent of its field goals and had 11 steals.

     

    Pittsburgh responded in the second half and trimmed the lead to nine points on two occasions, the last time coming on a Jennifer Brown bucket at the midway point. However, the Eagles held off the Panthers thanks to 16 second-half points by Clare Droesch, giving Boston College their 13th straight victory in the series.

     

    For the game, Pittsburgh hit 41 percent (20 of 49) from the field while the Eagles finished 48 percent (24 of 50). The Panthers had 26 turnovers and Boston College finished with 19.

     

    Brown tallied 16 points off the bench for Pittsburgh.

     

    Aja Parham led four Eagles in double figures with 18 points.

     

    Pittsburgh returns home for a Wednesday night battle against intra-state rival Villanova. Tip off at the Petersen Events Center is set for 7 p.m.
