    THE GAME

Pittsburgh returns home to host cross-state rival Villanova on Wednesday night at the Petersen Events Center. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. as the Panthers look to snap a two-game losing streak on the year.

Pittsburgh is also looking for its first win over the Wildcats since a 64-62 victory on Feb. 23, 2000. The Panthers have dropped five straight to Villanova, including a 56-45 setback in the season finale last year for Pittsburgh.

The Wildcats, who fell to Syracuse 45-42 on Saturday, are looking to get head coach Harry Perretta his 500th career victory. He owns a 499-303 mark in 27 years.

    ALL-TIME SERIES

Pittsburgh and Villanova meet for the 47th time on Wednesday with the Wildcats leading the all-time series, 33-13. Villanova has won five straight games in the series, including a 56-45 victory last year at the Petersen Events Center in the Panthers’ season finale. Pittsburgh trails the all-time series at home, 14-6, and has not won a game over Villanova at home since a 49-44 on Feb. 25, 1995, at Fitzgerald Field House.

Villanova is the Panthers’ most-played opponent, having played 46 prior times.
