    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.Pittsburgh’s women’s basketball team could not overcome an excellent shooting night from Boston College as it fell to the Eagles, 79-44, Thursday night at the Silvio O. Conte Forum. The Panthers, who have dropped to 6-13 overall and 2-7 in the Big East, lost for the fifth consecutive game.

     

    After Sheila Stufflet opened the scoring with a jumper, Boston College (15-5, 5-4) went on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes to grab an early nine-point advantage. The Eagles shot 55 percent (18 of 33) in the half and extended their lead to as many as 21 points before taking a 39-22 halftime lead.

     

    Pittsburgh shot just 35 percent from the field in the half and failed to make a 3-pointer (0 of 8).

     

    In the second half, the Panthers managed just two points over the first six-and-a-half minutes and trailed 49-24 with 13:34 remaining the game. Pittsburgh was unable to close the gap to under 20 points the rest of the contest and dropped its 12th straight game in the series history.

     

    For the game, the Panthers hit 38 percent (18 of 48) of its field goals, but connected on a dismal 15 percent (2 of 13) from behind the arc. Boston College finished 57 percent (36 of 63) from the field.

     

    Latoya Kincaid and Katie Histed led Pittsburgh with 12 points each.

     

    Aja Parham paced the Eagles with a game-high 16 points.

     

    Pittsburgh continues its two-game road trip as it travels to Villanova on Sunday afternoon. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at the Pavilion as the Panthers look to snap a three-game losing streak to the Wildcats.

     

    NOTES: Boston College finished with 36 rebounds to the Panthers’ 25…Pittsburgh committed 20 turnovers while the Eagles had 10…Jennifer Brown added eight points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals for the Panthers.
