With just five regular season games remaining, the Pitt women's basketball team is pushing its way toward the postseason and heads south for a rematch against USF on Saturday evening.
The Panthers (15-7, 6-5 Big East) are currently tied for sixth in the Big East Conference with the Bulls (16-8, 6-5) and DePaul (19-5, 6-5). As teams jockey for position heading into the 12-team Big East Championship in Hartford, the Panthers will be looking for its highest seed since a No. 4 in the 1995 conference tourney.
Pitt topped USF, 66-64, back on Jan. 8 at the Petersen Events Center, thanks to a jumper by Mallorie Winn (San Diego, Calif./Bishop's/Georgia Tech) with just 3.1 seconds remaining. The game was broadcast as the Big East Game of the Week and became a turning point in the season for the Panthers.
USF is in its first season as a member of the Big East Conference and has the nation's leading scorer in Jessica Dickson, who averages 23.0 points per game. Panther fans can hear the game live on the internet through Yahoo! at 7 p.m. or on tape delay on Fox Sports Radio 970 AM at 11 p.m.
Pitt returns home for a CSTV national broadcast vs. Seton Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. The game features Inspiring Pitt Pride Day and Faculty/Staff Day. Student Groups are encouraged to show off their Pitt Pride.
