"Pack the Petersen" Game Versus Notre Dame on Feb. 21 Sold Out 2/13/2004
PITTSBURGH "I think it is awesome for our women’s basketball team and the University that we were able to sell out the Petersen Events Center for the second straight year," said head coach Agnus Berenato. "It shows a strong commitment from the University to our women’s basketball program. "We have a top-notch facility and we are looking forward to showcasing our home as well as the new attitude we have for our women’s basketball team. The commitment is obvious throughout the University, from Chancellor Mark Nordenberg to our athletic director, Jeff Long. We hope that the fans who did not get an opportunity to get tickets to our Notre Dame game will come out and experience the excitement on our Senior Night against Villanova." Last season, the Panthers hosted eventual national champion Connecticut in front of a record crowd of 12,632, marking the largest attendance for a women’s basketball game in the City of Pittsburgh’s history. Tickets still remain for Pittsburgh’s final home contest of the season against Villanova on Tuesday, March 2. Game time is set for 7 p.m. against the Wildcats, who are the defending Big East women’s basketball champions. For ticket information, please call the Panthers’ Ticket Office at 800-643-PITT.
