    THE GAME

Pittsburgh looks to get back to its winning ways as it hosts Providence on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off at the Petersen Events Center is set for 2 p.m. as the Panthers look for their second consecutive win over the Friars.

Coming off a disappointing 61-55 setback to West Virginia on Wednesday night, Pittsburgh looks to snap a current six-game losing streak. The Panthers (11-12, 3-9 Big East) are attempting to have their first .500 season since the 1999-2000 when they finished 16-13 and earned a berth in the WNIT.

Providence is hoping to gain its first conference victory of the season and snap a 12-game losing streak this year. The Friars only win this season was a 59-56 win over Troy.

    ALL-TIME SERIES

Saturday’s game marks the 40th meeting between Pittsburgh and Providence with the Friars leading the all-time series, 26-13. The Panthers are 11-9 all-time against Providence at home, including a 64-51 victory last year on Jan. 10. Pittsburgh is 1-1 versus the Friars at the Petersen Events Center and has won four of the past five games in the Steel City. In the teams’ first matchup at the Panthers’ new arena, Providence came away with a 80-77 victory on Jan. 11, 2003.
