Women's Basketball Earns No. 10 Seed in Big East Tournament

The Panthers will play No. 7 seed West Virginia on Saturday night at 6 p.m. at the Hartford Civic Center.

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh’s women’s basketball team earned the No. 10 seed in the upcoming Big East Tournament and will play No. 7 seed West Virginia on Saturday night at 6 p.m. at the Hartford Civic Center in the first round
The Panthers (13-14, 5-11 Big East) lost a 61-55 decision to the Mountaineers (16-11, 7-9) earlier this year at the Petersen Events Center on Feb. 16. The teams have never met in the league tournament.
If Pittsburgh knocks of West Virginia in the first round, it will advance to play No. 2 seed Notre Dame on Sunday night at 6 p.m. The quarterfinal game will be televised by CSTV.
The following are the first round matchups at the Big East Tournament on Saturday:
No. 5 Villanova vs. No. 12 Providence, Noon
No. 8 St. John’s vs. No. 9 Seton Hall, 2 p.m.
No. 7 West Virginia vs. No. 10 Pittsburgh, 6 p.m.
No. 6 Georgetown vs. No. 11 Syracuse, 8 p.m.
No. 1 Rutgers, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Connecticut and No. 4 Boston College all receive first-round byes.
