PITTSBURGH - Pitt senior center Marcedes Walker has been named a State Farm Coaches' All-America Regional Finalist for the second consecutive year, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.

Walker (Philadelphia, Pa./University City) is Pitt's first four-time All-Big East team member and is the Panthers' all-time leader in rebounds, breaking a 29-year-old record. She is the Big East's active leader in career double-doubles with 52 and is just the second player in Pitt history to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

Last season, Walker was also named to the all-region team, making her Pitt's first regional All-American in 16 years. This year's honor makes her Pitt's only two-time regional All-American with three others earning the award once.

Walker is one of 52 regional finalists, who will compete for the 2008 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team. Forty finalists will be announced later in the week, with a team of 10 being awarded All-Americans later in the season.

Walker and the Panthers will take on Wyoming Saturday at approximately 4 p.m. EST in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and can be heard live on www.PittsburghPanthers.com as a part of All Access or locally on FOX Sports Radio 970 AM with Greg Linnelli and Jen Tuscano calling the action.
