PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh women’s basketball assistant coach Khadija J. Head is participating in the Women’s Basketball Assistant Coaches Professional Development Symposium in Dallas this weekend.
The program called A Step Up (Athletic Symposium To Ensure Professionals and Uplift Performance) is hosted by Felicia Hall Allen & Associates, a motivational speaking, training, consulting and sports management organization.
Head, who enters her third season on head coach Agnus Berenato’s staff this fall, also serves as Pitt’s recruiting coordinator. Among the symposium topics include: recruiting, time management, rebuilding program, media panel and what a head coach looks for in an assistant.
Last year Head was a participant in the ACE program, a program administered by the NCAA Student-Athlete Affairs department in partnership with the Black Coaches & Administrators (BCA). That event allowed participants the opportunity to engage with current NCAA head basketball coaches, athletic directors and other leaders in intercollegiate athletics.
Head previously served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Middle Tennessee State (2007-10). While there, she helped guide the team to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. Prior to her service at MTSU, Head served as an assistant coach and director of basketball operations at the University of Arkansas from 2005-07.
