PITTSBURGH- Home and away conference opponents for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 women's basketball campaigns have been announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Panthers will welcome three NCAA Tournament teams to the Petersen Events Center next season.
Pitt will host eight ACC opponents in 2014-15, highlighted by Elite 8 participants North Carolina and Louisville, as well NCAA participant Syracuse. The home slate also features Boston College, Clemson, Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Road games include both Louisville and Syracuse, along with Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, NC State and Wake Forest.
"We are so excited about the direction this program is headed and we can't wait for our second season in the ACC," head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio said. "The ACC is the top conference in the country and we have some amazing teams coming to the Petersen Events Center next season."
Among the home opponents for Pitt are the three teams the Panthers defeated last season in Boston College, Clemson and Virginia. The BC and Clemson wins came at the Petersen Events Center, while the Virginia win came on the road and it was the Panthers' first-ever win in the ACC.
Besides playing a home and home with Louisville and Syracuse every season, the 2015-16 schedule will flip, meaning Pitt will host Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, NC State and Wake Forest.
The complete 2014-15 schedule with dates and times will be releases at a future date.
McConnell-Serio will enter her second season at Pitt with six returning letterwinners, including one of the ACC's best guards in senior Brianna Kiesel.
Kiesel had a standout year for the Panthers as she led the team in points (16.4), assists (3.7), steals (49) and led the ACC in free throws made with 151 (82.5%). She was named the USBWA National Player of the Week after averaging 23 points and seven assists against Florida State and Virginia the week of January 7.
