Entering the most anticipated season in Pitt women's basketball history, Coach Agnus Berenato's highly regarded Panthers will enjoy unprecedented television coverage in 2007-08.

With every starter back from an NCAA Tournament team that won 24 games a year ago, Pitt will be on television a school-record seven times during the regular season. The Panthers will be on ESPNU three times and ESPN2 once. Pitt will also make appearances on Big East TV, CSTV and Big Ten Network.

"Playing on television seven times this year is a tremendous reward and opportunity for our program," Berenato said. "It is very gratifying that networks like ESPN and CSTV have recognized the excitement surrounding Pitt women's basketball and want to showcase our program to a larger audience. I know our players and fans are really looking forward to the season and this announcement is one more reason to be excited about what we are building at Pitt."

Pitt's ESPNU telecasts include its road game at DePaul (Jan. 6) and home contests against Louisville (Jan. 27) and Connecticut (Feb. 17). The Panthers' Feb. 10 game at Notre Dame will be an ESPN2 telecast.

The Panthers' other television games include Penn State (Nov. 11, Big Ten Network), Rutgers (Feb. 2, Big East TV) and West Virginia (Feb. 26, CSTV). The Penn State game is part of the WBCA Classic at the Bryce Jordan Center, while Rutgers and West Virginia will be home contests.

A popular preseason Top 25 pick, the Panthers boast some of the most exciting talent in the powerful Big East - and nationally. Pitt's returnees include Kodak/WBCA District I All-American Marcedes Walker (Philadelphia, Pa./University City) and the Big East's 2007 Most Improved Player, Shavonte Zellous (Orlando, Fla./Jones). Also back is All-Big East performer Mallorie Winn (San Diego, Calif./Bishop's), who sat out last season with a knee injury.

Pitt opens the season Thursday, Nov. 1, with a 7 p.m. exhibition game against Premier Players at the Petersen Events Center. Practices are set to begin Friday, Oct. 12, and Pitt's Basketball Fan Fest will be held Sunday, Oct. 21.
