PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball will play on national or regional television seven times during the 2009-10 season, tying a school record set last year. The Panthers' national appearances are highlighted by three games on the ESPN family of networks.
"We have been rewarded for our program's success over the last three seasons," said head coach Agnus Berenato.
"Our television package combined with commercial radio and the availability to stream our games allows our fans to follow not only the University of Pittsburgh women's basketball, but also Big East basketball."
Pitt will make its first television appearance on the Big Ten Network against in-state rival Penn State on Dec. 12. Tipoff in University Park, Pa. is set for 1 p.m.
Three days after opening Big East Conference play, the Panthers will travel to Morgantown, W.Va. for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Mountaineers on CBS College Sports. Pitt will then play back-to-back home games on ESPNU, against Rutgers on Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. and against West Virginia on Jan. 17 at 4 p.m.
On Jan. 23 the Panthers and Providence will be the Big East Game of the Week on Big East TV. Game time in Providence, R.I. is set for 2 p.m.
The Panthers will host last season's NCAA Tournament runner-up Louisville on Feb. 14 in a 5:30 p.m. match up that will be televised on ESPN2. The game will also mark the annual Pink the Petersen event.
Pitt will round out its television schedule at DePaul on Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. on CBS College Sports.
