About the Tribe
William and Mary opened its 2012-13 season on Friday afternoon with a 68-62 loss at home to East Carolina. Senior forward Emily Correal led the Tribe with 25 points and a career-high 21 rebounds, which tied the program’s single-game rebounding record. Jazmen Boone had a career-high 14 points, shooting 5-of-5 from the field. As a team, William & Mary collected 54 rebounds. Correal was second on the team in scoring a season ago (13.2 ppg) and paced the team in rebounding (8.6 rpg/5th in the CAA). The Tribe return 11 letterwinners and four starters from last season’s squad. That team finished 10-20 and 3-15 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Local Connections
Panther fans may recognize two familiar faces from the Tribe lineup as Correal and sophomore point guard Anna Kestler are natives of the Pittsburgh area. Kestler attended Mount Lebanon High School, while Correal is a graduate of Peters Township High School – both were All-State honorees.

Friendly Foes
Pitt junior Marquel Davis and W&M redshirt senior Chanel Murchison each played for the Fairfax Stars AAU program based in Northern Virginia.

Versus the CAA
Pitt has a 13-9 record all-time against current Colonial Athletic Association member schools. The Panthers have never faced Georgia State or Hofstra. The CAA was founded in 1983 as ECAC South and became the Colonial Athletic Association in 1985. Pitt met Richmond (in consecutive seasons in 1997 and 1998, 1-1 record) and American (on three occasions) when both were members of the CAA (Richmond is now an A-10 member and American a Patriot League foe).
