PITTSBURGH - University of Pittsburgh guard Brianna Kiesel was selected to the Big East women's basketball weekly honor roll, it was announced on Monday by the league office.
Kiesel averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 1-1 week for the Panthers. The sophomore point guard shot 53.6 percent from the field, which included a 50 percent mark (5-of-10) from behind the arc. Versus Longwood on Nov. 26, Kiesel tallied a career-high 27 points, connecting on 60 percent of her field goal attempts (9-of-15). She also finished with three assists and six rebounds in 36 minutes.
The Utica, N.Y. product recorded 17 points - a team-high - and five rebounds on Saturday at Lafayette.
Kiesel is averaging 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists on the season. She has started all seven games this season and a string of 37-straight. Kiesel has scored in double figures in 24 games over her career. She is the second Pitt player this season to earn an honor roll nod, following Asia Logan on Nov. 19.
Pitt (5-2) returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 5 versus Loyola (3-4) at 7 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
