Bender was named to the 2005 team for the Maccabiah Games (the quadrennial Jewish Olympics held in Israel the year after each Olympic Games)...finished fourth on the vault and fifth on the bars while leading her high school team to a second-place finish at the 2002 regional meet...finished third on the uneven bars and fourth on the vault while leading her team to a championship title at their district meet...a 2002 Washington Post All-Metro honorable mention...named to the first team of the 2002 Fairfax Journal...competed at the Level 9 Junior Nationals in 2002...was a Level 10 regional qualifier in 2002, 2004 and 2005...trained at the Capitol Gymnastics National Training Center under the direction of Tatiana Perskaia...a member of the National Honor Society and Latin Honor Society.
