AS A JUNIOR (2009)
Consistently performed on both the uneven bars and beam for the Panthers in 2009...Registered nine top-10 finishes on uneven bars and six top-10 places on the balance beam...Tied season-high of 9.675 on bars three times - against Michigan State, at Maryland and at the EAGL Championships...Season-high of 9.725 on beam came in the second meet of the season at the Pitt Invitational.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2008)
Competed in two meets before suffering a torn ACL that sidelined her for the remainder of the season.
AS A FRESHMAN (2007)
Jessica Byich competed as an all-arounder for the Panthers and appeared in the uneven bars lineup in every meet...scored a career-high 9.800 on the vault at Kent State, a 9.700 on the uneven bars versus New Hampshire, a 9.750 on the balance beam at the EAGL Championships...placed fourth on the uneven bars against Air Force and New Hampshire...finished sixth on the floor exercise (9.725) against Ohio State...took fourth on the vault at Kent State in her first meet as an all-arounder...scored a career-high 38.425 against Missouri and Central Michigan...placed in the top 10 on the balance beam at the EAGL championships.
Byich was a four-time Level 10 regional qualifier and a Level 9 national alternate...trained at Gym Dandy's Gymnastics under coaches Danny Warbutton, Scott Miller and Karen Clark...previously competed for Heartland Gymnastics under coach Frank Hohman...had to travel four hours round trip for competitive training...received the Myra Bachuchin scholarship award for gymnastics...nominated for Wendy's High School Heisman Award...candidate for the National Honor Society and participated in a leadership conference.
Born May 12, 1988...daughter of Mark and Susan Settle...has two sisters and one brother...younger sister was also a Level 8 gymnast at Gym Dandy's.
