Alix Croop joins the Pitt gymnastics staff after a successful career as a Pitt gymnast from 2006-09. Croop will serve as a volunteer assistant for the Panthers.

"Alix had a great career at both Parkettes and Pitt and we are honored to have her in the gym with us," head coach Debbie Yohman said. "She has great expertise and insight about the sport. More importantly, the respect of all her recent teammates. She will be helping on any event where we need her and contributing with a lot of excellent choreography on floor and beam."

As a senior at Pitt, Croop finished fifth on the beam and 17th on the floor at NCAA Regionals in 2009. As a team co-captain, Croop earned the EAGL title on bars and earned first team honors on both the bars and beam and earned second team recognition on the floor. Twice on the season Croop earned EAGL Specialist of the Week honors and set career highs on beam (9.875) and floor (9.900).

As a junior, Croop was selected as the team MVP. She collected 25 top 10 finishes including 12 on the uneven bars, four on the balance beam and nine on the floor exercise. A first-team All-EAGL selection on the uneven bars, Croop was also selected to the All-EAGL Tournament Team for her fifth place finish on the uneven bars. Croop competed in 10 meets on the uneven bars in her rookie season and set a career-high 9.825 for fifth place on versus Penn State.

Croop, the daughter of Russ and Ann Croop,was born August 3, 1987. She is currently attending Chatham College and working towards her Master's in psychology.
