Competed on bars in every meet and on beam five times for the Panthers...Season & career high of 9.6 on beam against UNH (1/23)... Hit season-high on bars with a 9.825 at No. 11 Penn State (2/6)...Collected two top-three finishes during the season...Member of 2011 EAGL All-Academic Team.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2010)

AS A FRESHMAN (2009)
One of the Panthers' most consistent performers on bars, Varela carried the third-highest average on the team at 9.625...Selected to the All-EAGL second team for uneven bars...Set season and career-high score of 9.850 against NC State on February 1, which ties the teams highest uneven bars score...named to the All-Tournament second team for uneven bars...Shared 2009's Most Improved Gymnast honors...Also competed on vault twice, registering a season-high of 9.650 in the season-ending meet at Maryland.
Member of Hills Gymnastics for five years, competing under the guidance of Kelli Hill and Kirk Morris...a three-time Level 10 Junior Olympic qualifier (2005-07)...placed second at regional's as a Level 9...second at Maryland state competition as a Level 10 in 2007...member of the honor roll and graduated one year early from Magruder High School.
