Final Stats

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt women's gymnastics team recorded a team score of 191.875 in its meet against Ohio State this evening. The Panthers (7-3, 3-1 EAGL) came up short to Ohio State's (6-4, 1-2 Big Ten) 195.025. Pitt is now 3-3 in home competitions.

Pitt had one all-around competitor, senior Andrea Arlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest). She finished fourth in the all-around with a 38.450. Ohio State's Kaylan Clevinger hit every event to win the all-around with a 39.000.

The Panthers started on the vault, earning a team score of 48.575. Pitt was led by freshman Dani Bryan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) who took second after tying her career high 9.875. Arlotta placed third with a 9.775. Freshman Shannon McConnell (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) tied for sixth with a 9.700. Winning the event was Ohio State's Amanda Surine with a 9.900.

Pitt scored a 48.375 on the uneven bars after top performances from Arlotta and Samantha DeBone (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield). Arlotta tied for second with a 9.775, and DeBone tied for fourth with a 9.750. Pitt's Alix Croop (Allentown, Pa./Bridgeway Academy) took ninth with a 9.625. Ohio State's Kaylan Clevinger won the event with a 9.800. The Panthers were in second after two events with a team score of 96.960 to 97.500.

Next up for the Panthers was the balance beam where they scored a 46.175, having to count a few falls. Pitt's top scorer was DeBone who took sixth with a 9.550. Anya Chayka (Germantown, Md./Richard Montgomery) came in sixth with a 9.525, and Andrea Konesky (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bishop Canevin) finished eighth with a 9.350. The Panthers remained in second after this rotation with a score of 143.125 to 146.150. Ohio State's Kiki Holman won with a 9.825.

On the floor exercise, Pitt scored a 48.750 to beat the Buckeyes by a tenth. Arlotta won the event with a career-high 9.900, and in second place was McConnell with a personal-best 9.800. Freshman Jessica Byich (Nicktown, Pa./Bishop Carroll) set a career-high 9.725 for sixth place.

Next up for the Panthers will be a dual meet at Kent State on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m.
