Despite Pitt's Alicia Talucci capturing the balance beam title, the Panthers fall 194.975-193.575 at No. 24 Michigan State Saturday night.
Talucci (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) scored a 9.775 on the beam to finish first among all scorers on the night. Typically an all-arounder, Talucci took a break on the night competing in the beam alone, making the most of the opportunity.
Shannon Vafiadou and Meaghan Biros each led the Panthers on vault with a 9.825, which tied for second. Vafiadou (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) also recorded a 9.650 on the beam and a 9.750 on the floor, both of which were good enough for fifth.
Biros (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) recorded a 38.350 in the all-around with a 9.600 on the bars, a 9.225 on beam and a 9.700 on floor, in addition to her 9.825 on vault.
Molly Moyer finished third in the all-around with a 38.600. Moyer (Telford, Pa./Buxmont Christian) scored a 9.750 on the vault, a 9.625 on the bars, a 9.575 on beam and a 9.650 on the floor.
Pitt will next travel to New Hampshire for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships, March 27 at 2 p.m.
