Gymnastics Finishes Season at NCAA Regionals in Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Three University of Pittsburgh gymnasts completed their season at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Host Alabama won the team title with a 197.000 while Oklahoma took second (196.600), Missouri third (196.600), followed by Central Michigan in fourth (194.425), New Hampshire fifth (193.650) and Maryland sixth (192.800).

Senior co-captain Alix Croop rounded out her career after competing in three events – beam, bars and floor. Junior co-captain Dani Bryan competed on vault while freshman Alicia Talucci, the Eastern Atlantic Gymnastics League’s Rookie of the Year qualified for the all-around.

On vault, Talucci and Bryan both registered a 9.725, tying for 18th place. Talucci also posted a 9.725 on the beam and floor exercise, totaling a 38.800 in the all-around, putting her in ninth place.

After posting a 9.375 on the bars, Croop rebounded for a 9.850 on the beam, taking fifth place and falling just off her career-high score of 9.875. On the floor, she registered a 9.775, finishing in 17th place.

The top two teams and all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) for each region received an automatic bid to the national championship in Lincoln, Neb. April16-18, hosted by the University of Nebraska. Also, the event winners advanced (in that event only) if they were not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.
