The Pitt gymnastics team got quality preseason work on Friday night when they traveled to Kent State for the Blue-Gold exhibition meet.
"Tonight was fun," said head coach Debbie Yohman. "I'd have to say for what we were battling, we did a nice job. Our beam was strong and vault and bars were solid. Floor is still a work in progress for us. We did some nice things tonight though.
"Kelly Burak and Katie O'Rouke did a great job tonight," Yohman continued. "Katie's floor was probably in midseason form already and her beam was gorgeous. Kelly has great potential on beam and that is very exciting. Maya Ketner had a gorgeous bars routine and considering she started training just a few weeks ago due to an injury, it was one of the best she's done."
Ketner's score on the bars was a team-high 9.80 while Burak led the Panthers with a 9.875 on the beam and O'Rourke was close behind with a 9.850. Pitt's high score on the floor again came from O'Rourke who recorded a 9.825.
The Panthers open the regular season on Jan. 10 when they host EAGL foe Towson at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House. Tickets are now available for every home meet this season. Call the Panthers Ticket Office at 800-643-PITT (7488) or order online.
