PITTSBURGH - The Pitt gymnastics team saw the competition floor for the first time this season in their annual Blue-Gold exhibition meet in which they hosted Kent State.

No team scores were recorded on the afternoon, but the Panthers saw some outstanding performances from their newcomers.

On vault, Pitt took the top three places, including the vault title going to freshman Maebelle Pacheco and second going to freshman Lisa Soto. Sophomore all-arounder Haley Sedgewick took third.

For Pitt's second rotation, youth again ruled as sophomore Bri Hogan took second, Sedgewick was third and Soto finished in third.

On the balance beam, Pitt freshman Lindsay Offutt tied for the top score and freshman Laura Kummerle recorded the third best score of the day.

To round out the day on floor, Sedgewick was the Panthers' lone representative in the top three with a clean performance.

Soto finished second in the all-around competition, while Sedgewick was close behind in third.

Pitt begins the regular season on Jan. 11 with a 7 p.m. meet against West Virginia at Fitzgerald Field House.
