The Pitt gymnastics team stays on the road this weekend as they head to Rutgers for a quad meet with Brown and Southern Connecticut at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The Panthers will face the Scarlet Knights for the second week in a row, as they out-paced EAGL foe Rutgers at Penn State last weekend. Pitt and Brown will meet for the first time since 2005, while this marks the first-ever meeting with Southern Connecticut.
“We may or may not see some shuffling around in the lineup this weekend,” said head coach Debbie Yohman. “We have two all-arounders who are now day-to-day with back problems but we seem to be managing them fairly well. Haley Sedgewick is again questionable. She wasn’t able to go last weekend at Penn State, but seems in a bit better shape this week and you KNOW she’s not happy about being out.
“Lindsay Offutt also has had problems with certain skills this week but she’s a competitor and we’ll just have to see how she is when she gets off the bus. Even so, we feel a lot better about the team’s preparation this week. The mentality was different and the focus was better. And we do have some kids stepping up where we need them to, particularly on vault and where we may have to substitute for Haley or Lindsay.”
