The Pitt gymnastics squad travels to Chicago this weekend for the Chicago Style Meet in which the Panthers will compete against Arizona, Illinois State and Texas Woman's University. The meet is set for Friday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
"We're very excited about Chicago Style this weekend," said head coach Debbie Yohman. "It's an excellent opportunity to compete against some of our out of region opponents we don't often get to see. Plus, the exposure for Pitt will be great. Many, many of the age group gymnasts from all over, who come to compete in the day prior to, and after us, will come to watch the collegiate meet.
"The competition should be good. We have scores to compare, but without having seen any of these teams (Arizona is a top 15 team), we go in expecting to hit and to win. Again, we may see a bit of a shuffle in some lead off and early spots where we are still trying to find our strongest lineup. The positive is that we have competitors who want that spot, and the harder they work to earn it, the better it makes us!"
Senior Alyssa Adrian and junior Katie O'Rourke are looking to defend their event titles from last week's meet as Adrian earned the uneven bars' top mark and O'Rourke won the balance beam. The Pitt duo earned their wins in a quad meet at Rutgers on Jan. 2.
