PITTSBURGH - Hey Panther Fans!

After a week that would have left any team shaken up, your Pitt Gymnasts proved that we are strong! Even after some unexpected lineup changes over the long week of training, we managed to earn our top score of the season on the road in a Monday night quad meet at Maryland with Towson and George Washington. The final team score of 194.9 was enough for second place, just short of Maryland's 195.225.

The past week of training was a long one, including two practice meets in the gym, and some unexpected events happening along the way. Early last week, freshmen beam and floor specialist, Kelly Burak, went down with an injury, but the team rose up to the challenge and had her back. I, myself, was a cheerleader in the gym the past week, trying to rehab back a sprained ankle, and couldn't have been happier watching the team overcome these challenges to earn our season high score! This was a true display of mental toughness and showed just how badly we want be in that top 36!

Senior Maya Ketner and sophomore Nicole Pearson really stepped up on floor this week and sophomore Lisa Soto rocked in her first meet back on beam this season! Senior Kori Macdonald also stepped up with a solid score on vault after only one day of training! Along with that, senior Katie O'Rourke and sophomore Lindsay Offutt both secured event titles on beam and floor, and sophomore Jacqui Lucci, secured her first event title on bars! Overall, the meet was a lot of fun and the energy was high!

The Panthers are looking to keep up the momentum in the gym for just a short week of training and then hitting the road again on Friday for a "Beauty and the Beast" meet at WVU at 6 p.m. Also, be sure to come out to the Fitzgerald Field House on February 21 at 7 p.m., as Pitt Gymnastics heads home to compete against EAGL opponent, NC State!

Let's Hunt! H2P!
