The Pitt gymnastics team will wrap up its five-week road trip this weekend at Maryland for a quad meet with George Washington and Bridgeport on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
“This should be the most intense meet of our regular season, tomorrow night at Maryland,” head coach Debbie Yohman said. “Although it’s in their small gym, it will be noisy, close and high scoring! Maryland is obviously the top dog in the EAGL this year, Bridgeport is doing an amazing job and George Washington is nipping at our heels. We have to be on and excited.
“We will have the same rotation as last weekend, which we did well with. Most notably, we finish on the vault and the host is allowing teams to use two exhibitions on their last event. Fortuitously for us, we are able to give Brittney Harris and Alyssa Adrian the chance to warm up and, at minimum, exhibition in that vault lineup. Those two vaults have the potential to really add to our score, so Maryland is actually doing us a big favor! We plan to take advantage.”
Pitt competed against EAGL foe George Washington last weekend at the Sweetheart Invitational, defeating them 194.750-193.950. Additionally, Pitt hosted league opponent Maryland on Jan. 19 and scored their sixth-highest team score in school history with a 195.650. The Panthers last met up with Bridgeport in 2011 when they defeated them at Penn State, 193.475-192.250.
Fans will be able to follow the action on Friday night with live scoring from College Park.
