PITTSBURGH--The Pitt gymnastics team (1-9, 1-3 EAGL) will head to Denver, Colo., to compete in a non-conference tri-meet with No. 13 Denver and Texas Woman's. The Panthers lost their last meet against West Virginia in a hard fought conference battle.

The only Panther to capture an event title against the Mountaineers was senior Samantha DeBone (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield), who stole the bar title with an impressive 9.800.

Dani Bryan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) is one of the Panthers most consistent and experienced performers. Bryan tied for second place on the vault, tying her season-high score of 9.850. She also tied for third on the floor exercise after scoring a 9.800 for her elaborate routine.

On beam, Sarah Thompson (Shokan, N.Y./Onteora) tied for second place with a score of 9.775. Thompson's score tied her career-high.

Freshman all-arounder Shannon Vafiadou (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) scored a career-high 38.525 against the Mountaineers, placing third.

The Panthers have never competed against Texas Woman's and are 2-1 against Denver. Texas Woman's is 7-11 overall and 1-1 in the Midwest Independent Conference. Denver is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation and holds an impressive 11-4 record, but is coming off a close loss to No. 12 Auburn.
