Pitt's gymnastics team will host No. 12 Penn State on Sunday, March 11 at 6 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House for Senior Day. Seniors Kelsey Ainsworth, Alicia Talucci, Lisa Taylor and Amy Varela will be honored.
The Panthers enter the weekend at 5-6 overall and 3-2 in EAGL action, while The Nittany Lions sit at 12-3 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten action.
"We are aiming for same goal as last week - to hit 24 for 24 in preparation for EAGL Championships," head coach Debbie Yohman said. "We're down to gut check time and we just have to keep doing what we've been doing. We've already met a team of Penn State's caliber. In fact, they are ranked right next to Ohio State, so we know what we're facing. If we go out and just compete hard, we should end up with a great team score, which we ALWAYS do on Senior Night for our seniors, it doesn't matter who the opponent is! So once again, it should be a super competition for everyone."
Sunday will mark the teams' 13th consecutive year Pitt and Penn State have met. Last weekend, Pitt scored its highest mark of the season with a 194.750 on the road at George Washington.
Pitt will host the EAGL Championships on March 24, which are held at Fitzgerald Field House on Pitt's campus. For ticket information, contact the Panthers Ticket Office at 412-648-PITT (7488) or visit PittsburghPanthers.com.
