PITT'S ANDREA ARLOTTA NAMED EAGL GYMNAST OF THE WEEK FOR THIRD TIME THIS SEASON
March 13, 2007 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Pitt senior co-captain Andrea Arlotta was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week. This is her third honor in this category, and she also received EAGL Specialist of the Week this season. She led the team to a third-place finish and a 193.350 at Arkansas last weekend. Arlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) placed second in the all-around with a 39.150, defeating opponents from league teams West Virginia and New Hampshire. She earned a career-high 9.900 on the uneven bars to tie for first, making this her fourth uneven bars event title this season. She additionally tied for fifth on the vault with a season-best 9.825. Arlotta is ranked in the league's top 10 on three events and also in the all-around. With a regional-qualifying score (RQS) of 9.825 on the uneven bars, she's second in the EAGL. She's seventh on the vault with a 9.790 RQS and sixth on the floor exercise with a 9.800. In the all-around, she's third with an RQS of 38.900 and reached a career-high 39.275 earlier this season. This weekend, Arlotta and her teammates will face the No. 24 N.C. State Wolfpack on Friday evening. The meet is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Raleigh.
