The Pitt gymnastics squad has placed 10 on the 2013 EAGL All-Academic Team, the league announced this week.
Senior Alyssa Adrian (psychology) and junior Kori Macdonald (bioengineering) represent Pitt as three-time honorees on the list.
The Panthers have three gymnasts returning to the All-EAGL Academic team for the second year in a row including: sophomore Bri Hogan (undeclared), junior Katie O'Rourke (media and professional communications) and senior Alexa Riech (marketing).
Sophomore Haley Bodenheimer (media and professional communications), freshman Tiara Chadran (undeclared), freshman Laura Kummerle (undeclared) freshman Lindsay Offutt (undeclared) and sophomore Haley Sedgewick (media and professional communications) each make the list for the first time.
Eighty-nine gymnasts across all EAGL teams were named to the list. In order to garner EAGL All-Academic Team honors, student-athletes must register a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher at the end of the fall 2012 semester. Freshmen are also eligible.
Pitt will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships on March 23 at 2 p.m. Members of the all-academic team will be honored during the banquet on March 22 at Kenan Stadium Concourse Club on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
