PITTSBURGH - Pitt freshman gymnast Haley Bodenheimer has staked her claim to the East Atlantic Gymnastics League's Rookie of the Week honor as she takes home the honor for the fifth time this season.
Pitt has earned the recognition a total of six times this season with freshman Haley Sedgewick winning on Feb. 21. Bodenheimer earned the honor on Jan. 31, Feb. 7, March 6, March 13 and March 20. This week marks her third consecutive week winning the rookie of the week award.
Against Ball State on the road last weekend, Bodenheimer won the all-around competition with a 39.075, which gives her a plus-39.00 score in four meets this season. Additionally, she won the vault (9.825) and uneven bars (9.725) events and finished second on the floor exercise (9.80).
The Panthers host the EAGL Championships on Saturday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House on the University of Pittsburgh campus. Tickets are available through the Panthers Ticket Office at 412-648-PITT (7488).
