INDIANAPOLIS — University of Pittsburgh gymnasts Tracey Pearson and Taylor Laymon will be representing Pitt at the 2017 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships at the Morgantown, W.Va., regional, as announced by the NCAA Monday afternoon.
Pearson will compete on vault with Laymon competing on uneven bars as the due heads to West Virginia University on April 1.
The selection is the second consecutive for Pearson as she competed in the all-around in Ann Arbor, Mich., last season. Pearson placed 14th in the all-around with a score of 38.125, tallying a 9.800 on floor and 9.675 on vault to highlight her performance.
The Regional will be the second of her career for Laymon as her RQs of 9.820 earned the junior a spot. Her bars score ranks 10th in the region and eighth in the conference. Laymon made her first appearance at NCAA Regionals as a freshman.
Additionally, Pearson is also an alternate on floor.
Pearson and Laymon will compete for a spot at NCAA Nationals as action in Morgantown, W.Va., is slated for April 1 at 4 p.m.
