The Pitt gymnastics team spent the afternoon putting together its final preparation for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships to be held Saturday, March 24 at 2 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House on the University of Pittsburgh’s campus.
“We're thrilled to be able to host this meet on our own floor,” said head coach Debbie Yohman. “Our girls couldn't be more excited about being on a championship stage in front of our family and fans. We have a lot of opporutunities ahead of us and we're looking forward to seeing how high we can go.”
Pitt is hosting the meet for the first time since 2004 and will welcome George Washington, Maryland, New Hampshire, NC State, North Carolina, Rutgers and West Virginia for the one-day meet.
The meet marks the last home appearance for seniors, and key contributors, Kelsey Ainsworth, Alicia Talucci, Lisa Taylor and Amy Varela. In the all-around, the Panthers are led by freshman Haley Bodenheimer, who was won the EAGL Rookie of the Week honors five times this season.
The Panthers are vying for a spot in the NCAA Regional meet to be held on April 7 with the location still to be announced.
