Senior Amy Varelais currently serving as a first alternate and is awaiting word on her inclusion to join her teammates. Bodenheimer will compete in the all-around and will be in a rotation with Ohio State. O'Rourke (floor), Talucci (vault), and possibly Varela (bars) will compete alongside North Carolina.
Bodenheimer won the East Atlantic Gymnastics League's Rookie of the Year honor last week and was named the EAGL Rookie of the Week on five occasions throughout the season. Heading into regionals, she is ranked sixth in the Northeast region in the all-around with a 39.070 regional qualifying score, 10th on vault (9.820), 19th on bars (9.775), 18th on beam (9.750) and 10th on the floor (9.835).
O'Rourke, a sophomore, who has led Pitt on the floor exercise all season, earned a spot with a RQS score of 9.855, which is good enough for fifth in the region. Talucci ranks seventh in the region on vault with a 9.845 average and could conclude her decorated career at Pitt on April 7.
Pitt's final regional hopeful is Varela, who will discover her fate for participation in the meet in the coming days. Following the weekend, her RQS bars score of 9.790 ranks her 13th in the region.
