ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Pitt senior and 2007 NCAA qualifier Andrea Arlotta was named the Northeast Region Gymnast of the Year. She captured the conference title on the uneven bars this season and has qualified for the NCAA Championships as an all-arounder.

Arlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) is the team's first qualifier since Leila Tait on the balance beam in 2005. She additionally continues to lead the Pitt record books with the most career points at 1,570.380. She passed up the former leader, Robyn Senior, at the EAGL Championships last month.

This season, Arlotta earned first team honors in the all-around for the third consecutive season. She was also named a first team selection on the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. Prior to this year, Arlotta had six first team honors and four second team honors. She was a three-time EAGL Gymnast of the Week this season and also earned Specialist of the Week once. Arlotta won six uneven bars and five floor exercise titles as well.

Arlotta will compete in the NCAA Championships from April 26-28 in Utah. All regional awards are determined by votes received from the head coaches.
