PITTSBURGH - Pitt's gymnastics team has placed six gymnasts on the NACGC/W Academic All-America team. The honored Panthers include Alyssa Adrian, Bri Hogan, Kori Macdonald, Laura Kummerle, Katie O'Rourke and Alexa Riech.
Of those Pitt gymnasts recognized, Hogan, Macdonald and Riech were also on the academic team last season.
"We are very proud of our Academic All-Americans," said head coach Debbie Yohman. "The NACGC/W Academic standards for this award are high - 3.5 or higher for the year - yet over 500 gymnasts nationwide have made the list, showing the level of achievement that is associated with our athletes both at Pitt and in NCAA gymnastics. Their goals are high."
Adrian, who wrapped up her eligibility in 2013, is a psychology major with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Riech, also a 2013 senior recorded a 3.57 with a business major.
Other honorees with their GPA and major include Hogan (3.92 rehabilitation sciences), Macdonald (3.61 bioengineering), Kummerle (3.95 rehabilitation sciences) and O'Rourke (3.31 media and professional communications).
