PITTSBURGH - New team by my side, hair in a tight pony, leo on, dreams await. It's time for a fresh start at a new school in a new city. I can't even describe how excited I am for the 2012 gymnastics season with new girls and coaches in a new practice facility. I walk into the gym every day with a smile on my face ready for the challenges ahead. High spirits in the air, cheering all around and awesome skills visible on every event -- I have a wonderful feeling that this year is going to be great.
Starting with new coaches, teammates and classmates in a new school can be overwhelming and stressful, but it's being able to manage time and balance schoolwork with practice that gets me through each day, always keeping that smile on. I believe in the saying that "everything happens for a reason" and transferring to Pitt has been a mind-opening experience that I will never forget. I have learned to adapt to any changes and challenges that I face in the present and future.
Last year as a freshman on a Division I gymnastics team, I learned that you must always work for what you want. In the gym, consistency comes with time, which is a huge part of college gymnastics as well. I was always motivated to be the best, because everyone on the team is competing for the same line-up spots. But if there's one thing I have taken away with me, it's that at the end of the day, your team is always there for you, no matter what. We are family.
One team, one heart!
Hail to Pitt!
