OLEAN, N.Y.--Junior Dana DelleFemine's game-winning goal with two minutes left gave Pitt a 2-1 women's soccer victory Friday evening at St. Bonaventure. With the victory, Pitt improved to 3-1-0 on the year, its best start in three seasons. All three of Pitt's wins have come after either trailing or being tied in various contests.

"Our performance was better today," Pitt head coach Greg Miller said. "We came back and scored a goal in the game's closing minutes to get the win. We lost the lead on a silly foul that resulted in a St. Bonaventure penalty kick, but I was proud of the way we battled back and never gave up. We kept the pressure on, had several other chances to put the game away and scored a goal when we needed it. The team is learning how to win."

Pitt scored each of its two goals off corner kicks. DelleFemine provided the game winner at the 87:49 mark when Roosa Arvas' corner kick was headed in by Morgan Sharick. Sharick redirected the ball in front of the net where DelleFemine tapped it in.

Pitt took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute when Sharick headed in a corner kick from Arvas. The score marked Sharick's second goal of the year.

"Morgan Sharick had a great game defensively and obviously she's very dangerous in the air," Miller said. "Both goals were off corner kicks and both Morgan and Roosa Arvas played a key role in those plays. It comes down to service and Roosa puts the ball on the exact spot every time.

"Tonight we also received great minutes from our bench and that was key."

Trailing 1-0, St. Bonaventure (0-3-0) tied the game on a penalty kick goal by Shannon Van Riper in the 81st minute. The Panthers struck back with a flurry of shots over the game's next three minutes until Arvas' corner kick found DelleFemine for the go-ahead score.

The two teams played to a scoreless 0-0 tie in the first half. The Panthers outshot SBU 4-0 in the first half.

Pitt outshot St. Bonaventure 16-5 in the match and finished with eight corner kicks to the Bonnies' four.

Pitt is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Duquesne at 1 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
