INDIANOLA, Pa.--The Pitt women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 contest to Toledo Sunday at Founders Field after Diana Ginley's header found the net in the game's final 23 seconds. The loss moves the Panthers to 2-1-0 on the season. Toledo moves to 2-0-0 overall.

Toledo got on the board first capitalizing on a corner kick in the 25th minute of play. Kristy Wilson deflected the ball into the goal off a corner kick taken by Suzi Siwinski.

The Panthers refused to waiver in their efforts and in the 66th minute of play Kristina Francois was able to tie the score. The Panthers worked the ball beautifully in the middle, stringing together several passes working towards the goal. Jacqueline Reuter and Jennifer DeLaHoz connected on passes and then DeLaHoz fed the ball to Francois, who kept her composure at the top of the box and rocketed a shot past Toledo keeper Jen Whipple.

Just as the end of regulation time was about to expire, Toledo shocked the Panthers with a goal in the 89th minute of play. The clock read 23 seconds remaining when the Rockets capitalized on their second corner kick of the day. Suzi Siwinski's corner kick met the head of Diana Ginley who was able to direct the ball into the net past Pitt goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi.

"I thought we were the better team, especially in the second half," Pitt head coach Sue-Moy Chin said. "Toledo wanted it more in the first half, but we did a good job coming back. The game was very physical and I was pleased with our effort but we need to remember that soccer is a full 90 minutes. The late goal was very disappointing, we needed to stay focused for the full 90 minutes and we just didn't do that."

The Panthers continue their season with a five game road trip. Pitt will take on Georgia on Friday, September 9th and then Kennesaw State on Sunday, September 11th in Athens, Georgia, competing in the Georgia Nike Tournament.
