PITTSBURGH-Junior Jacqueline Fix netted her second game-winning goal of the season with 16:33 left in the game on Friday night to complete the Pittsburgh comeback and defeat Georgetown, 2-1, at Founders Field in Indianola, Pa.

Fix (Center, Pa./Center) received a pass from Melissa Smith (Lakewood, Colo./Bear Creek) and after Hoya goalkeeper Shereena Chang challenged her, she lifted the ball into the net from 20 yards out to give the Panthers a victory in their Big East Mid-Atlantic Division opener. It was her third goal of the season and the eighth of her career, moving her into sole position of fifth place on the Panthers' all-time goals list.

Panther goalkeeper Rachel Brown (Burnley, England/Alabama) made her season debut after missing the first four games with a leg injury and picked up five saves in the victory.

The Hoyas got the first goal of the game at the 18:05 mark when Cristy DeLorenzo deflected a pass from Karin Ostrander past Brown into the left corner of the net. Georgetown held on to the 1-0 lead into halftime and for the first nine minutes of the second half before redshirt sophomore forward Annette Agredano (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson High Magnet) tied the game for the Panthers at 54:11 off a corner kick by Kimberly Sturk (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park). It was Agredano's second goal of the year and seventh of her career. For Sturk, it was her team-high third assist on the season.

With the score tied 1-1, the Hoyas had a chance to regain the lead, but junior defender Cara Kappler (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park/Virginia Tech) was able to stop the ball before it got into the net on a Nicole DePalma shot. DePalma was able to roll the ball past Brown but Kappler was there to knock it away on the goal line.

Fix's goal came minutes later, giving the Panthers a 3-2 mark, tying their best start to a season after five games. In 1998, Pittsburgh began the season 5-2 en route to an appearance in the Big East quarterfinals.

Pittsburgh was outshot in the contest, 12-10, but made the most of its shots against Chang. The Panthers will host No. 21 Auburn in a non-conference matchup on Sunday at Founders Field. Game time is noon.
