Indianola,Pa.-- The Pitt women's soccer team was defeated by Connecticut on Sunday 4-2. Pitt completes its regular season play with a record of 8-7-3 overall, 3-6-2 in the BIG EAST while Connecticut improves to 10-7-2 overall, 7-3-1 in the conference.

 

"I thought we played good soccer today," Pitt head coach Sue-Moy Chin said. "The result is unfortunate but I was pleased with our effort. I am proud of our success in the season so far."

 

Pitt scored first in the game's sixth minute as freshman Katie Caslin (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) scored her first career goal as a Panther. Caslin's goal came off a pass from Megan Watson (Hockessin, Del./St. Mark's) who recorded the assist on the goal.

 

Meghan Schnur got the equalizer for the Huskies in the game's 42 minute. Schnur shot from 15-yards out and found the back of the Panther net.

 

Meta Haley (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) put the Panthers up 2-1 in the game's 58 minute. Jennifer Kritch (Northville, Mich./Northville) served the ball to Haley who possessed the ball, turned and fired a shot into the Connecticut net.

 

Twenty minutes later Brittany Tegler scored to tie the game 2-2. Tegler recorded another goal 10 minutes later, giving the Huskies the 3-2 advantage. Minutes later Jessica Diakun scored off a pass from Tegler, giving the Huskies the 4-2 win.

 

The match marked the completion of Pitt's regular season schedule.
